South Charlotte Baptist Church is an independent, unaffiliated Baptist church which was established in 1978 by Evangelist Dr. Walter Kirk. Just a few years later, the church purchased property along Lancaster Highway in Pineville, NC.
In 1989, after Dr. Kirk's resignation, Dr. Charlie Scott became pastor and served SCBC for 24 years leading the church in two building programs and the establishment of South Charlotte Baptist Academy in 2003.
In 2000, Pastor Joseph Campbell came to SCBC to serve as youth and music pastor. In 2013, upon Pastor Scott's retirement, SCBC called Pastor Campbell to become the senior pastor.
In these nearly 50 years, God has blessed SCBC as it has continued to keep it's focus on the Great Commission which is its purpose: "Proclaiming the Gospel; Experiencing the miracle of changed lives!"
