Latest Update from Byron Foxx and the God Bless America Crusade

Here’s the most recent update that I have received from Byron Foxx regarding the God Bless America Crusade:

People are beginning to contact me from several east coast states, asking when they can come go soul winning with us! GLORY!

Attached is a flyer for the TEEN SOULWINNING MARTHON – August 23-24. Please get your TEENS to be part of this historic opportunity! I thank the Lord for brother Freddie Reed helping us get this Teen Soulwinning Marathon organized!

NOW—most of the 1 million door outreach must be done by Carolina FOLKS! Every church needs to rise to the occasion!

PASTORS—We do need you to go door to door. HOWEVER, more than that, we need you to get YOUR PEOPLE to go door to door!

Tuesday July 31, 10AM we are meeting at Every Nation Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. We are doing a KICK START for soul winning that day!

Thursday August 1, 6pm-10pm we are doing our VISION CAST. It is a webcast to be shown atwww.GodBlessAmericaCrusade.com . The purpose: To raise awareness of the GBAC, to educate our church members about the GBAC, and to raise funds for the GBAC.

There are many details to the GBAC. Let’s be diligent! AND, let’s now get our churches to “PRESS TOWARD THE MARK.”

A Three Act Play

We’ve had a great week at South Charlotte Baptist Church!

Tonight, parents and teens had a wonderful time with the Pensacola Christian college ministry team. The moms, daughters, and ladies from PCC did a masterful job of putting their Winnie the Pooh puzzle together using only one hand!

Tomorrow morning we will be trimming some bushes around the church. Your welcome to come! Many hands make light work.

Let me encourage you to read Acts chapter 8 in preparation for Sunday morning’s message. That chapter reads like a three act play. We will be looking at Act 1 – Philip in Samaria. You don’t want to miss the service and the fellowship with other Christians.

Praise the Lord for the Bus Ministry!

Water-Wars

One of our bus riders enjoying “Water Wars!”

“Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” Luke 14:23

Today was the beginning of our first ever “Bus Ministry Water Wars.”  These “Water Wars” will be taking place each Sunday during the month of July!

I’m so thankful for the bus workers that God has given to South Charlotte Baptist Church throughout the years who have sacrificially given of their time to “come early & stay late” on Sundays (even giving much of their Saturdays to go visiting) so that they might minister to these children and to their families!

They do this in an effort to have the opportunity to share the Gospel with these families!

We should all be diligent about the Father’s business of telling others the Good News of Jesus Christ!  That is the only hope for our country, for our world, for our families & communities!

Water Wars

Even some of our bus workers got in on the fun of Water Wars!

To Every Creature

Hudson TaylorThe year was 1889 and Hudson Taylor was nearing the end of his life and ministry (although he did not know that). He had already been on the field for well over 30 years. However, he got a fresh perspective from the Lord regarding the Great Commission as found in Mark 16:15.

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

What he was most impressed by were the words, “to every creature.”  With this fresh perspective, Hudson Taylor wrote an article entitled, “To Every Creature.”  I have just recently been able to come into possession of that article and want to make it available to everyone.  Just click on the link below to view this article that Hudson Taylor wrote in 1889.  I pray that it will be a challenge to each of us as we get busy about the Great Commission!

Church Memory Verses for July & August

This year, 2013, we have been encouraging our church family to memorize God’s Word.  Our memory verses for July and August will be Acts 5:28-29

“Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

“Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”

Together, let’s hide God’s Word in our heart!

NBT Kick Off

DSC_0734My heart is joyful, tonight, as we close out a great day and a wonderful kick-off to Neighborhood Bible Time at South Charlotte Baptist Church!  In fact, I would have to say that this has been one of the best kick offs that I can recall.

We have seen God working already!  God has led us to several families just through our NBT Blitzing done in the weeks leading up to NBT.  When I stopped by Lowes yesterday, I gave the cashier an invitation to South Charlotte Baptist Church.  When she looked at the church name, she recognized it as the church that had placed a door hanger on her door for NBT a couple of weeks ago.  She got excited because her children wanted to go to NBT but they did not have transportation.  Two of our bus workers then went to visit the family this morning.  One of those bus workers went back tonight to bring the teenager daughter to the teen activity.  The young lady responded to the invitation and was saved!

We were blessed to have the Voices of Praise from Golden State Baptist College with us tonight to help us kick things off.  (They’ll be with us tomorrow morning in our service as well!)

Please be in prayer for Neighborhood Bible Time this week!

Summer of 2013

DSC_0039

Although school is out, there is still plenty going on at South Charlotte Baptist Church!  I am looking forward to what God is going to do during the summer of 2013!  I wanted to let you know of some of the activities that will be taking place this summer so that you can plan accordingly.

During the month of June…

  • Each Sunday evening and Wednesday evening leading up to Neighborhood Bible Time, we will have a brief service in the main auditorium and then those who are willing and able will load up on the church bus and go into a local neighborhood and “Bible Time Blitz!”  We will place NBT and SCBC door hangers on each door!
  • During the week of Monday, June 10, we will go “Bible Time Blitzing” each day at 9:00 am and 7:00 pm.
  • Neighborhood Bible Time, our yearly youth crusade, begins on Sunday night, June 23.
  • We have two Christian colleges that will be visiting us this month.  Crown College of the Bible will be with us on Wednesday night, June 19 and the Voices of Praise from Golden State Baptist College on Saturday night, June 22 and Sunday morning, June 23.

During the month of July & August…

  • “Wednesdays in the Word” – Each Wednesday night, beginning at 6:30 pm, we will serve dinner from the grill.  Each family is encouraged to bring a side dish and possibly a dessert each Wednesday night!  Want to be the “grill meister” some Wednesday night?  Contact the church office!  Immediately following dinner we will spend time in God’s Word and in prayer.
  • “Steps of the Savior” – Each Wednesday night following dinner, the children (4 years old through the 3rd grade) will enjoy their own service!
  • God Bless America” Regional Choir Practice & Prayer meeting – On Monday night, July 22 at 7:00 p.m. choirs from around the region will be gathering at SCBC to rehearse for the God Bless America Crusade to be held September 11-13 at the BoJangle’s Coliseum in Charlotte, NC.  At the same time as the choir rehearsal will be a prayer meeting for the Crusade.

We look forward to seeing you soon at South Charlotte Baptist Church! Be faithful to be in the house of God, whether at home or while you are on vacation!

Looking Back and Going Forward

DSC_0012

This past Sunday was an exciting day in my life and in the life of South Charlotte Baptist Church.  I received my ordination and was also installed as the next senior pastor of South Charlotte Baptist Church.  Pastor Scott, after 24 years of ministry as the senior pastor, officially retired from the pastorate as of Sunday morning, June 2, 2013.  I officially became the senior pastor as of Sunday evening, June 2, 2013.

View a tribute video of Pastor and Mrs. Scott’s 24 years of ministry.

It was 13 years ago that I became the youth and music pastor of South Charlotte Baptist Church.  One of the questions that was asked of me 13 years ago, when I interviewed for the position, was, “How long do you plan to stay?”  My response, “As long as God allows me.”  Little did I know at that time the plans that God had in store for me or for South Charlotte Baptist Church.

What are my plans for the future of South Charlotte Baptist Church?  I plan to continue on the path that was set by Dr. Walter Kirk and Dr. Charlie Scott.  I plan to continue leading this church to

  • Serve God.
  • Win our world for Christ.
  • Train the next generation of Christian leaders.

If you do not have a church home, we’d love to have you come and visit us and consider partnering with us as we fulfill the words of Philippians 1:27…

“Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;”

Operation Renewed Hope – Oklahoma Tornado Update

I received this email update about the devastation in Oklahoma as a result of the recent tornados.  Please keep the individuals and families in your prayers.  Pastor Scott and I have discussed what we might possibly do to help these families.

May 23, 2013,

Dear Friends,

I received this last night from Pastor Lindsey of Suburban Baptist Church, OKC, OK.  Please read this and pray.

“Currently, as of 30 minutes ago we have six families that have had their homes totally destroyed, most have insurance, but not all. Some insurance is better than others. Some are deficient on what is covered for their contents.

Three families …have not lost their homes, but have been uprooted from their homes because of damage in nearby areas and other dangers. One lady church member who runs a day care from her home, barely got the kids out in time (10 minutes before it hit) to get them to safety. Her home was destroyed and now she no longer has a job either. She was making $2,400.00 per month. I prayed with her and we asked the Lord to provide that much income for at least the next two months until she could get settled and find another home and job.

Many have lesser damages to different degrees. We are continuing to monitor that.

We have four automobiles (that I know of now) that were destroyed that were not covered by insurance, except liability only.

My greatest concern right now is for a family named Larry and Toni Stephens. They are the only family that is unaccounted for. They do not have cell phones, only land lines. Their neighborhood is still under lock down. They have had dogs in their sniffing (I presume for dead people). About 2 p.m. today there was a big gas explosion. So, I don’t know when they will let us in.

For right now, I know that we could use $10,000.00 to help with the immediate financial needs of our church family.

It may be more later. In fact, I’m sure it will be more later, but these are some pressing needs now. We are committed to helping the household of faith first, and then, of course are trying to help our community as well. When we give, we are giving in the name of the Lord, and looking for opportunities to witness and tell people about the greatest gift of all…Jesus Christ.

We could also use some gospel tracts that focus on presenting the gospel in the midst of great tragedy (Why does God allow bad things to happen, etc).

Whatever you feel led to give will be used to glorify the Lord and lead people to Him. That’s our promise.  Pastor Ron Lindsey  Suburban Baptist Church”

Please pray for these good people.
