The Army That Is Known As South Charlotte Baptist Church

We are in a war battling for men’s eternal souls!

Listen to Pastor Campbell’s message, “The Army Known As South Charlotte Baptist Church.”

We see this battle for the souls of men after Paul’s defense that he gives before King Agrippa in Acts chapter 26:

“King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.

“Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

“And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.” Acts 26:27-29

 The Purpose

Throughout history, God has always had “a witness” – Those who openly testify and confess the one true God! Jesus Christ, in the Gospels, commissioned the church to carry on as God’s witness to this world.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”  Matthew 28:19-20

The purpose of South Charlotte Baptist is to fulfill the Great Commission!

 The Preparation

“But as many as received him [Jesus Christ], to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me…” Acts 1:8

If you have received Jesus Christ then you have become a child of God and have received the gift of eternal life. If you have received Jesus Christ, then you have also been given the Holy Spirit. He is the power dwelling within you that enables you to be a witness. Therefore, you are already prepared to be a witness! Being a witness is simply telling others what Jesus Christ has done for you!

The Participation

We may not all participate in some of the service oriented ministries of South Charlotte Baptist Church (ushering, choir, SCBA teacher) but we have all been commanded to participate in the Great Commission.  Each of us must determine that we are going to participate in the outreach of South Charlotte Baptist Church seeking to fulfill the Great Commission.

The Plan

The following are specific activities that you can participate in to help South Charlotte Baptist Church fulfill its purpose.

  •  “To Every Creature” – Our “Jerusalem” has been divided up into section that, on Monday nights and Saturday mornings, we will seek to go “door to door” inviting families to SCBC & some of our specific events/services.  At the very least we want to leave, at each door, an invitation to attend SCBC, a Gospel tract, and a friendly smile!
  • Guest Follow-Up” – When an individual visits SCBC there are several ways in which we will seek to connect with them.  We need individuals who will reach out to our guest in the following ways:
    • Email – Within 24 hours of their visit, we will send them an email “Thank you” along with an invitation to visit again.
    • Personal Note – Within 36 hours we will send them a hand written “Thank you” along with an invitation to visit again.
    • Personal Phone Call – Within 3 days we will call them to thank them for visiting and then to personally invite them to a Sunday school class the following week or to invite them to an upcoming activity.
    • Personal Visit – Within a week someone will attempt to make a personal visit to the home of the visitor. The intent of this visit is not simply to thank them for visiting but to also ascertain their spiritual condition and possibly be able to share the Gospel with them.
  • Sunday School Support” – Each guest will be placed on a Sunday school roll. Individuals are needed to call (each Saturday) all the individuals on the Sunday school rolls to encourage them to be in Sunday school the following day. This would enable us to also be an encouragement to the individuals who have “slipped” out of church.
  • Academy Families – Right now we need individuals/families who will take a small gift to each of the families in South Charlotte Baptist Academy who are not members or regular attenders of South Charlotte Baptist Church.
  • Other “activities,” at different times during the year will be designed to help us get the Gospel out into our community!

At this point, it’s not a matter of “Well, I just didn’t know how we as a church are seeking to fulfill the Great Commission.” Now it’s a matter of “How are you going to participate?!”

Send me an email and let us know how you would like to help us reach “our Jerusalem!”

Biblical Principles for Effective Parenting

Effective Parenting

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

One of the most difficult, but most important responsibilities, that parents have, is the rearing of their children.  It is also the one responsibility that most parents feel extremely unprepared for.

Join us, each Wednesday night at 7:00 PM in the main auditorium of South Charlotte Baptist Church, as we look at Biblical principles for effective parenting.

God Bless America Crusade Report from 9/11 Service

God Bless America Crusade

Watch & Pray Webcast – 9/11

Everything that God does is right and perfect! The GBAC is His meeting, and He is leading it perfectly!

The pre-service music was a blessing and consisted of orchestra, Bill Todd on piano, and the Calvary Quartet. We delayed the start by 5 minutes due to many traffic issues. We then had Pastor Mark Aheron lead the pledge, Pastor Foster Covington sang the National Anthem, and Dr. Charlie Scott opened in prayer.

We sang My Country Tis of Thee, and our theme song: God, Please Bless America.

Then we began to recognize the FIRST RESPONDERS. We showed a heart-moving video of footage from 12 years ago, and Pastor Kevan Bartlett made remarks about our heroic First Responders. We also recognized a gentleman in attendance who had actually been in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. The heros received a standing ovation, and were each given gifts. Then we prayed specific over all of them, ask God to help them!

God then touced the large GBAC choir! They were on fire! They sang excellent songs about God and Country that stirred the crowd!

WV State Trooper Jimmy Mitchell was used of the Lord! He gave a remarkable testimony of his work as a First Responder, and gave all the glory to Jesus Christ!

Dr. Lonnie Mattingly greeted the meeting and made an appeal for the offering, and Pastor Tim Cruse prayed over the offering. Pastor Foster Covington sang beautifully a song that every city in America needs to hear: JESUS PAID IT ALL!

Pastor John Reynolds is a gospel preacher! The Lord used him to preach a crystal clear gospel message from John 3! Souls were saved! Among those who were saved last night was a lady from NY! A guest at a local hotel attended and was saved! A friend attended from Hickory, NC and was converted! English speaking folks and Spanish speaking folks were saved! After the service more were saved! Hallelujah! Pastor Scott Hooks lead the decision consellors, and they were used of God! This is all about the gospel!

God used the GBAC workers! The Ushers, greeters, did outstanding! The deaf interpretation was superb!

GBAC support staff took their work seriously before the Lord. I do not personally know how the workers could have done better! The sound and lighting added to the night!

Many churches streamed the service into their mid week services. Folks in Turkey were watching, plus New Zealand, Germany, and on and on it goes! Over 50 radio stations carried the service live. Hallelujah!

Every thing done last night was for one giant purpose: “Spread the gospel of Jesus Christ FAR AND WIDE!”

TODAY! Tune in at noon for a GBAC Live News Report at More details of last nights remarkable service will be given on the webcast.

If you can possibly attend the service tonight you should! If not, watch it on-line, or listen on any FBN Radio network station!

Tonight we will recognize EDUACATORS! A children’s choir will sing in the service, and more from the GBAC choir and orchestra. Plus a tremendous gospel testimoy and gospel preaching! Hallelujah! GOD IS AT WORK!

Pray for more souls to be saved! Give as the Lord leads (God’s people have given! We now only need $48,000 to totally finish the budget!) Give on line at

DVD’s of the service are already available. Pick one up tonight in the service, and soon they will be available on-line for purchase.

Thank You for Being Hospitable!

Church Family,

I received the following email from a recent visitor to one of our services and I wanted to share it with all of you and thank you for being so hospitable!

Hi Pastor Campbell.

Thank you so much for your email.  I thoroughly enjoyed Bible study.  Everyone was warm and welcoming. I even had a chance to meet your lovely wife.

I am planning to join you and your congregation for services on Sunday. In fact, I’m looking forward to it.

I appreciate each of you and your desire to show the love of Christ to others!  Keep up the good work!

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24

God Bless America Supporting Churches

I wanted to give our church folks an idea of the scope of the God Bless America Crusade.

The map below shows you all of the supporting churches for the God Bless America Crusade to be help at the BoJangles Collisseum on September 11-13, 2013.  There are independent Baptist churches from all over North and South Carolina who have pledged their support of this crusade and who are giving and working in many different ways so that this Crusade will be a success, not in the eyes of “the world,” but in the eyes of the Lord.

As you take a moment to see where these churches are, would you please also pray the prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ –

“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38

Then, will you commit to participate?  South Charlotte Baptist Church will begin their “One Million Doors for the Lord” campaign on Saturday, August 3 at 9:30.  Come and be a part of this historic event!

One Million Doors for the Lord

In preparation for the God Bless America Crusade on September 11-13, 2013, we are seeking to knock on one million doors in the greater Charlotte area and invite families and individuals to attend the Crusade.

From August 1 through September 10, thousands of individuals from all of the sponsoring churches, along with others from around the southeast United States will be working to attain that goal.

Each of the local churches in the Charlotte area (which includes South Charlotte Baptist Church) will be going out each Saturday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. The goal for South Charlotte Baptist Church is to have at least 75 individuals, from our church, out on Saturday, August 3rd, and to knock on at 2,000 doors!  That is an ambitious goal but our God is worth all of our ambition!

“We’re not asking people to do what they can do; we are asking people to do what needs to be done!” – Missionary We Palla  Won’t you please come and be a part of this historic working of God in the greater Charlotte, NC area?
