The following question was asked…
I have always wondered about the Origin of Cain’s wife as she came from the land of Nod. Were there other people in the initial placement of life on Earth and a separate man (Adam) given a helpmate (Eve)to tend Garden. I only see mention of a total of 3 sons for Adam and Eve.
There are several questions that are found within this “one” question.
Did Cain’s wife come from Nod?
“And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.” Genesis 4:16
The Bible simply tells us that Cain dwelt in the land of Nod, not that his wife was from the land of Nod. Simply put, Cain’s wife was a close relative of his own.
Did Adam and Eve only have a total of 3 sons?
We have recorded the names of 3 of Adam and Eve’s sons: Cain, Abel, and Seth. However, those aren’t the only children that Adam and Eve had.
“And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:” Genesis 5:4
Adam and Eve had more children. Cain, Abel, and Seth were the only ones that were recorded in the Bible.
Many of the questions which individuals have can be answered simply by knowing and understanding God’s Word. It does take time, effort, and study. But it is a rewarding activity – spending time in God’s Word!
